Maximize safety and stability in tight spaces with the 2 Tread Steptek Classic Plus. Manufactured in the UK by Redhill, this compact unit is the ultimate upgrade from standard kick-stools. It is specifically designed for offices, libraries, and retail counters where space is limited, but where a larger, more secure standing area is required for daily tasks.

Unlike typical small steps that can feel unstable, the Classic Plus boasts a generous 406 x 380mm top platform. This extra surface area allows operators to plant both feet firmly and work comfortably—whether filing documents or replenishing lower shelves—at an average working height of 2.0 metres.

Smart Retracting Castor System

Despite its small footprint, the unit is equipped with a professional Weight Activated Retracting Castor system.

Agile Positioning: The steps move freely on four non-marking castors, allowing them to be nudged easily under desks or into corners.
Instant Braking: As soon as weight is applied to the first tread, the castors retract. This lowers the steel feet to the floor, instantly anchoring the steps to prevent the “scooting” motion often experienced with plastic stools.

Fully Welded Construction

Supplied fully assembled and welded, the 2 Tread Classic Plus is built to last. The robust tubular steel frame supports a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 125kg. The large platform is positioned at a height of 508mm (approx. 0.5m) and is supported by a safety rail to provide confidence and stability while stepping up and down.

Does the platform count as a tread?	Yes. When ordering, remember that the top platform is included in the tread count (e.g., a 4-tread step has 3 treads plus the platform).
Can these be used outdoors?	We strongly advise against using standard Steptek units outside. For wet or outdoor environments, you require galvanised warehouse steps to prevent rust and ensure safety. Contact us for a quote on galvanised models.
What safety standards do these meet?	Our BSI Steptek range is manufactured to meet EN131-7 standards for mobile leaning ladders and steps. They feature high handrails and kickboards to ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety regulations.
What is the maximum weight capacity?	Most of our standard mobile warehouse steps have a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 150kg. This accommodates a single user plus tools or stock items. Always check the specific product data sheet for heavy-duty variants.
Do they arrive assembled?	All of our Steptek units are delivered fully welded and ready for immediate use. Larger warehouse steps, usually 10 tread and above, will be supplied in 2 parts for on site assembly, this is for transportation reasons.
How does the braking or safety system work?	Our mobile steps use either a side hand lock lever and anti ascent bar or weight-activated retractable castors. Both systems ensure that once the user applies weight or engages the lock, the rubber feet grip the floor securely to prevent movement.
Are they safe for mezzanine floors?	Yes. Steptek steps are designed with non-marking rubber feet and high-quality castors, making them suitable for standard warehouse concrete, mezzanine flooring, and commercial surfaces without causing damage.
